Where has Humanity Gone?

When I look back at the Holocaust and the terrible things that happened I see an scary example of what human beings are capable of. The Holocaust shows how people can be truly evil, that they can throw away human life so easily. We see how racism, hatred and a need for revenge against something or someone can drive people to do things that are almost not human. Slaughtering hundreds of people just because of their race? It makes me wonder how a person can change so much that drives them to do that. Did they feel remorse? Did they question their actions? Did they think about the children they were killing or the orphans they were creating? The fact that the Holocaust and atrocities like that can happen make me wonder where has humanity gone during this time. If these genocides can happen where human beings are turned into monsters then what hope is there for peace in the world? If people that start these things still exist then how can we stop them? How can we as a human race call ourselves human and say we have humanity when things like this happen and the rest of the world stands by to watch. So easily these days human life is lost. What has brought us to this and how can we stop it? Truly while these inhumane things happen around the world we don't deserve to claim that humans are full of humanity.
